My research interests are in Microbial ecology in terrestrial environments with special focus on the following topics:
- Microbial diversity in the terrestrial environment and its effects on the functions of ecosystems
- Structure, diversity and function of microbial communities including bacteria, fungi and protozoa
- Resilience and resilience of microbial communities when challenged by other microorganisms and other major organisms, pesticides, contaminants.
- Microbiological soil quality
- Interactions between bacteria and protozoa in terrestrial environments
- Risk assessment of introduced micro-organisms (microbiological pesticides or genetically modified)
- Bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and coherence with bioavailability
- Environmental effects of environmentally harmful substances, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, nanomaterials and pesticides
- Applied techniques include molecular tools such as PCR-DGGE, cloning and RFLP, chemical analyzes and traditional culture-based microbiological techniques and microscopy.
