My research interests are in Microbial ecology in terrestrial environments with special focus on the following topics:

  1. Microbial diversity in the terrestrial environment and its effects on the functions of ecosystems
  2. Structure, diversity and function of microbial communities including bacteria, fungi and protozoa
  3. Resilience and resilience of microbial communities when challenged by other microorganisms and other major organisms, pesticides, contaminants.
  4. Microbiological soil quality
  5. Interactions between bacteria and protozoa in terrestrial environments
  6. Risk assessment of introduced micro-organisms (microbiological pesticides or genetically modified)
  7. Bioremediation of polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons and coherence with bioavailability
  8. Environmental effects of environmentally harmful substances, including polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons, nanomaterials and pesticides
  9. Applied techniques include molecular tools such as PCR-DGGE, cloning and RFLP, chemical analyzes and traditional culture-based microbiological techniques and microscopy.
